Iranian/Italian tenor, Ramtin Ghazavi began his opera singing studies in Italy from 2003-2008. He graduated under the guidance of  Vittorio Terranova at the conservatory of music G. Verdi in Milan. Then he succeeded in the competition for the selection of " La Scuola dell’Opera Italiana" at Teatro Comunale di Bologna , where he attended several master classes with Bruno Bartoletti, Renato Palumbo, Luis Alva, Giuseppe Sabbatini, Francisco Araiza.

 

In 2007, he joined for the first time the choir of Teatro alla Scala and Philharmonic choir of La Scala where he had the opportunity to experience working with the greatest conductors, directores and singers in the most famous theatre of the world.

 

In 2008 he debuted in "Wozzeck" ( composed by Alban Berg; conducted by Daniele Gatti and directed by Jurgen Flimm) He also played in "pop quartet" in Opera "1984" conducted and composed by Lorin Maazel at "Teatro alla Scala”. With the Scala Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Gustavo Dudamel, he performed  "Chichester Psalms" of Leonard Bernstein, televised on La7. He was the “cover” for "Alfredo" in "La Traviata"  of G.Verdi at Teatro alla Scala, conducted by Carlo Montanaro and directed by Liliana Cavani, where he had the opportunity of singing with Renato Bruson and Mariella Devia. He also played In "La Bohème" by G. Puccini, conducted by Gustavo Dudamel and the directed by Franco Zeffirelli at " Teatro alla Scala”. Among the many concerts he participated in  Casamari opera festival, "The 5 International Tenors”, a tribute to Luciano Pavarotti.

 

In 2009, he played  in “I due Foscari”, by G. Verdi, conducted by Stefano Ranzani, and directed by Cesare Lievi. In the same year he played in "La Traviata" by Giuseppe Verdi directed by Henning Brockhaus, and conducted by G.M.Bisanti at “Teatro Pergolesi” of Jesi; “Teatro dell'Aquila” of Fermo; and the Nuovo Teatro G. Verdi of Brindisi.

 

 

 

In the occasion of the premium of Teatro comunale di Bologna he played  in "Salome" by R. Strauss, conducted by Nicola Luisotti, and directed by Gabriele Lavia. He also played the role of the “Gran sacerdote” in "Idomeneo” by W.A. Mozart and conducted by Michele Mariotti, and directed by Davide Livermore, at Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro Comunale di Ferrara, Teatro Comunale di Modena, Teatro Dante Alighieri di Ravenna and Teatro Romolo Valli in Reggio Emilia.

 

He was the guest of many other important theaters in Europe such as Theatrè des Champs-Elysèes in Paris, in may of 2011 with I due Foscari of G. Verdi in the concert conducted by Daniele Callegari broadcasted live on Radio France.

 

He returned to collaborate with Teatro alla scala in october of 2011 in "Der Rosenkavalier" by R. Strauss, Conducted by Philippe Jordan, and directed by Herbert Wernicke. In july of 2012 he performed in "Manon" by J. Massenet conducted by Fabio Luisi and directed by Laurent Pelly in Teatro alla Scala.

 

In the summer of 2013 in collaboration with Italian Embassy in Tehran he founded the first master class of Opera singing for young singers in Iran.

 

In 2014 he won the international audition for the full-time position as a tenor in the chorus of Teatro alla Scala.

Recently he debuted in 3 important Puccini’s operas, in “La Boheme” as Alfredo, in “Tosca” as Cavaradossi and in “Madam Butterfly” as Pinkerton.

 

He made his debut in the US in the summer of 2015 for the recital in San Jose, CA ,at Trianon Theatre and in the 25th annuale conference of the friends of Persian culture in Schaumburg, Illinois and in 2019 in UK for the recital in Hastings Theatre.

He was also Manrico in Il trovatore in Milan and Varese, Alfred in Die Fledermaus of J. Strauss Sala Piatti of Bergamo, Remus in Treemonisha of Scott Joplin and Don José in Carmen in 2018 with Lake Como Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Roberto Gianola.

 

In 2019 he was again Alfredo in La traviata with Orchestra and Chorus of Amici del Loggione del Teatro alla Scala in Teatro dal Verme, Milano.

 

He is the honor citizen of the city of Sartene in Corsica, France where he teaches Opera singing.

 

Ramtin is the first and only Iranian tenor ever sing at La Scala and he is working in the legendary Chorus of LaScala winning an International competition
