Yente Lottman grew up in a family of musicians and started playing the violin at the age of four. In 2017, she joined the Sweelinck Academy for young talent at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where she studied with Professor Sarah Kapustin. In 2021 Yente began studies with renowned pedagogue Professor David Takeno (Eugène Ysaÿe International Chair of Violin) at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. Yente also studies the baroque violin with Pavlo Beznosiuk of the Academy of Ancient Music, and has had the benefit of guidance from many inspiring musicians through masterclasses, including Shunske Sato, Philippe Graffin, Kirill Troussov, Rosanne Philippens, and Robert Levin.
She has won a number of important national competitions, including the Dutch Britten Violin Competition (2018) and First Prize in the regional finals of the Prinses Christina Competition (2019). At just sixteen, she made her debut at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and shortly after, she toured the United States and Canada, performing in cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Calgary, and Vancouver as part of a Prinses Christina Concours laureates’ tour.
A passionate chamber musician, Yente is often invited to perform at international festivals such as Het Grachtenfestival and Festival Wonderfeel in the Netherlands, Fjord Classics in Norway, and the Edinburgh International Festival in Scotland. She has also performed with incredible musicians like Yura Lee, Jennifer Stumm and Anna Fedorova.
Yente feels fortunate to receive support from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, the Drake Calleja Trust, the Harrison-Frank Family Foundation, and the Albert Cooper Trust.
