Liling Wang

Cellist

Liling Wang (Lydia) is an emerging cellist from Shanghai, China, who began her cello studies at the age of 3 under the tutelage of Mr Wenbin Gen from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and joined the Shanghai Youth String Orchestra as Principal Cello in 2015.

Liling Wang came to the UK in 2017 to study at John Leggott College, which she completed with distinction in 2020, she began her undergraduate studies at Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London, UK, under Professor Naomi Butterworth. In 2023, after winning scholarships to several prestigious schools in her postgraduate applications, she enrolled at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in September 24 to study with Professor Ben David for a Masters of Music in Performance.

Liling has performed as a soloist with various orchestras and chamber groups in London, including Wigmore Hall, St George's Church, St John's Church and Waltham Abbey Church, and has received high praise from conservatoires and organisers.
